Construction Overview
Narrative Description of Project:
The development of export-oriented industry and its diversification in Cambodia by attracting foreign direct investment have been given a first priority. Introduction of industrial zones to facilitate export will, thus, comprise the heart of the development of industrial sector in Cambodia. The Regional Development for the Phnom Penh – Sihanoukville Growth Corridor Study conducted by JICA in 2003 supports the potential and strategic importance of Sihanoukville and the development of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the city. Taking advantage of the on-going new container terminal development by Yen Loan, Sihanoukville is deemed to be the most suitable location to develop such an export-oriented industrial zone. The Objectives of Consulting Services are: a) Overall project management and financial management, b) Construction supervision including necessary engineering services for the Project, c) Monitoring and advice of the Contractor’s environment management system activities during the Project.
Description of Actual Services Provided in the Assignment:
- Review of the water supply distribution system, to include the conduct of hydraulic analysis considering the proposed relocation of elevated water tank and deep wells, provision of additional water service connections arising from the planned re-subdivision of lots, and provision of thrust blocks and other appurtenant water distribution fixtures;
- Review of road design, to include road layout plan and pavement structure design to accommodate 40-footer container vans;
- Review of the sewer collection system, to include the conduct of hydraulic analysis considering the provision of additional sewer service connections arising from the planned re-subdivision of lots, and provision of additional manholes;
- Review of the drainage system design, to include the checking of design capacities of proposed drainage channels and pipes.
