Constructions Overview
Narrative Description of Project:
The MRT-7 Project is a combined 44-km of rail from SM North Avenue to San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan and road transportation alignment starting from San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The rail portion of the proposed MRT-7 will consist of an approximately 22-km double track guideway from a Common Station with LRT-1 and MRT-3 at SM City North Annex to the Intermodal station at San Jose del Monte. The alignment will traverse mostly on the center of North Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue and Regalado Avenue. At Quirino Highway, it will traverse the perimeter side of La Mesa Reservoir property. The system will have 14 stations strategically located along the route where commuters are expected to embark and disembark.
The road portion of the MRT-7 shall be a 6-lane 22-km highway from the Intermodal Transportation Terminal (ITT) in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan to Bocaue/Batangas exit of the North Luzon Expressway. The Highway will be designed as an open road similarly to C-5 road. The road network will run through open lands to reduce and simplify ROW acquisition cost. The inclusion of the Highway with this proposal is expected to induce additional ridership to MRT-7 and subsequently to other LRT lines. It will also support the Government’s concern and objective of alleviating traffic in the metropolis by deterring provincial buses from entering the Metropolitan areas through the provision of an alternative route with an intermodal transport terminal at San Jose del Monte.
The Project is to be implemented under a Build-Gradual Transfer-Operate and Maintain (BGTOM) arrangement, which is a modified Build-Transfer-and-Operate scheme defined under the BOT Law and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
