Detailed Narrative Description of Project:

The Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GOP) has received a Loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance the Davao City Bypass Construction Project – Package I, the objective to improve the transport logistics and mitigate congestion in Davao City, thereby contributing to economic and social development in Mindanao. In so doing, a bypass road with a total length of around 30 km was conceived that includes 2.28 km tunnel, thus, requiring the expertise of consultants for its design.

Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided:

Scope of consulting services include:

1. Detailed Design (Value Engineering studies, topographic survey, geological and geotechnical investigations, hydrological surveys, highway    geometry design, foundation and pavement design, drainage design, slope protection, junction and intersection design, detailed design of tunnel and bridges, detailed design of river control and countermeasures , study on possibility of liquefaction and soft ground, toll facility design, design of Tunnel Management Office Building and facilities, disposal area development, design of transmission line, quantity calculation, unit price analysis and cost estimate, plans and drawings, etc.)
2. Tender Assistance (preparation of bidding and other relevant documents, assistance in bidding activities, evaluation of bids)
   3.        Technology Transfer (conduct of on-the-job training on tunnel design for DPWH trainees, which shall involve:
   a) tunnel design considerations;
   b) geotechnical investigation and geotechnical interpretations for underground works;
   c) best practices for road way tunnel design, construction,
   maintenance, inspection and operations.
