NKG Workshop Seminar in Tokyo

A training workshop was held in Tokyo, Japan, from November 13 to 17, 2023, attended by representatives from various Nippon Koei (NK) Group Companies, including two employees from PKII (Ray and Francis) and 14 other participants from Nippon Koei Bangladesh (NKB), Myanmar Koei, Inc. (MKI), Nippon Koei Vietnam (NKV), Indokoei International (IKI), Nippon Koei India (NKI), Nippon Koei Latin America and the Caribbean (NKLAC), and ASAP Mobility. The workshop aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of NK’s best practices in project operation and management while also fostering stronger relationships among the subsidiaries and providing insights into the activities of each NK Group Company.

The workshop commenced with an orientation session followed by a series of informative lectures. The first day included sessions on Safety Management, Compliance, and integration of Digital Transformation (DX) with building information modeling (BIM) and construction information modeling (CIM). These lectures provided a comprehensive overview of the protocols, regulations, and technological advancements NK employs across projects. The day concluded with a briefing on upcoming site visits.

The second day involved visits to several significant sites in Tokyo, including Tokyo Station, the Shiodome Area, Haneda Innovation City, and Sona Area Tokyo. These visits offered practical insights into various aspects of project management, from structural maintenance and urban redevelopment to innovation in construction and disaster prevention strategies. NK is involved in the design of related facilities in the visited areas. 

On the third day, participants visited the NK Research and Development Center in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki. The visit included observations of river, hydraulic, and dam models, providing a deeper understanding of the cutting-edge research conducted in NK. Participants attended lectures from different departments within the R&D Center, where they learned about current research activities, particularly the use of drone technology, AI laboratory, disaster prevention, erosion control, and other relevant topics.

The fourth day featured presentations by each participant, introducing their respective companies, and sharing insights into their operations. This was followed by lectures on SWOT analysis, focusing on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by NK Group Companies. A workshop on business expansion strategies was also conducted, specifically on extending the operations of one NK Group Company to another country. The day concluded with a formal closing ceremony and a reception party, which provided an opportunity for networking and relationship building.

The final day of the workshop was a free day, allowing participants to explore Tokyo and visit various tourist attractions, adding a cultural dimension to the overall experience.

In conclusion, the training workshop in Tokyo was an invaluable experience, offering deep insight into NK’s project management practices, research activities, and innovative technologies.
