ISO9001:2015 2nd Surveillance Audit

Achieving an ISO certification is an extensive process, however, once an ISO seal is obtained, it will open a lot of opportunities for the company like gain access to clients that require an ISO certification and be globally recognized for quality, competency, and reliability.
Last February 2, 2023, PKII was recertified by TUV Rheinland under ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems (QMS), which is the gold standard for organizations seeking to streamline the controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and policies they have around quality assurance. The ISO 9001 standard covers the design and implementation of a QMS, including whether quality assurance documentation matches quality management practices.
For this year, a surveillance audit, which is less intensive than the certification audit, was conducted to the following specific process owners: Top Management, Internal Audit, Design Center, Business Development, Engineering, Human Resource, International Consulting Group, and lastly, Information Technology Department. Despite the seven (7) opportunities for improvement (OFIs) identified, positive findings were recognized such as the upward trend of profit since 2015 up to 2022 and the significant net profit increase from 12.4 % (2021) to 18.4% (2022) notwithstanding the COVID-19 pandemic. Management commitment towards continual improvement like: a) Upgrading of internet bandwidth from 40 mbps to 100 mbps (primary ISP); b) Initiative to become a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider for internal use; c) Purchase of new high-end server for backup; and d) Project tour for the company’s senior and young engineers last July 2022. In addition, IT initiatives were also noted, namely, the IT Troubleshooting Seminar for Non-IT Staff (2 session) and IT Security Awareness Infographics. The company received a Certificate of Appreciation from the University of the Philippines -Association of Civil Engineering Students last September 2022 for an office tour and briefing on the engineering profession. Results of the client satisfaction survey from clients are positive with the services provided by the company and no complaints were received from interested parties, which is commendable. With this development, the third-party audit certified that PKII meets or exceeds clients’ expectations.
