Water has always been an essential part of our daily lives. However, millions of people around the world still lack access to safe and clean drinking water. According to UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, one in three people globally do not have access to safe drinking water. In the Philippines alone, one in ten people still struggle to access improved water sources.

In response to this pressing global issue, Philkoei International Inc. (PKII) has partnered with Waves For Water (W4W), an organization dedicated in providing clean water to everyone who needs it. Waves For Water is a non-profit organization that focuses on correcting water scarcity imbalances in developing communities around the world.

Founded in 2009 by professional surfer Jon Rose, W4W was born out of a humanitarian response to the Sumatra earthquake. Since its inception, the organization has implemented over 155,000+ clean water systems across 48 countries, directly benefiting 3.75 million people. In the Philippines, W4W’s efforts began in response to the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013.

The collaboration between PKII and W4W led to a successful community outreach on July 19, 2024, in Barangay Cawag, Subic, Zambales, a community consisting of 140 households. The W4W team led the event, conducting an educational orientation on water filtration systems, demonstrating their functionality, and distributing filters to local households.

It was inspiring to witness how simple, sustainable solutions can make a significant difference in people’s lives, ensuring that more families in Barangay Cawag have access to clean and safe drinking water. Aligned with PKII’s commitment to Engineering for Humanity, this initiative reflects our belief in using innovation and collaboration to address critical needs and improve the quality of life for communities in need.
