From
the last quarter of 2010 to early 2011, Nippon Koei Co., Ltd.,
with support from the International Consulting Group (ICG) of
Philkoei International, Inc. (PKII), submitted proposals to several
official development assistance (ODA) infrastructure projects
in other developing countries besides the Philippines. Among those
submitted include four proposals in particular which ranked first.
First and foremost is the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (HHTP) Infrastructure
Development Project in Vietnam, a joint venture between NK and
PKII, of which a total of eight experts for international positions
such as Structural Engineer, Survey Engineer, Hydraulic Engineer,
Drainage Engineer, Document Specialist, etc. were provided by
PKII. Since the commencement of this JICA funded industrial park
development project in July, two of the eight PKII experts have
already started their assignments in Vietnam.
Also
in Vietnam, the second project won is the ADB Central Region Rural
Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project in Ho Chi Minh City,
which is scheduled to start within the last quarter of 2011. In
support of NK, three PKII experts for positions of Construction
Supervision, Resettlement and Environment Specialists are to be
engaged for this project.
The
third project won is the ADB funded Northern Rural Infrastructure
Development Sector Project in Laos, which aims at agricultural
development and livelihood improvement of rural inhabitants through
rural infrastructure such as rural access roads and irrigation
facilities. For the said project, only one PKII expert is to be
engaged with assignment starting in 2012.
Last
but not least is the Olkaria-Lessos-Kisumu Transmission Line Construction
Project in Kenya, which was won through another joint venture
between NK and PKII. For this project, PKII provided experts for
two major positions, namely Transmission Line Expert (Structural
Engineer) and Substation Expert (Electrical Engineer), which employ
long-term assignments of more than 30 man-months each. The start
of this JICA funded project, including the assignments of both
PKII experts, will be within the last quarter of 2011.
As
proven through the projects won as mentioned above, PKII’s
ICG has achieved its primary goal of following opportunities worldwide
by directing the many untapped resources available from the national
level to the international market. Moreover, PKII will continue
to provide support to NK’s endeavors towards internationally-funded
infrastructure projects, through ICG’s provision of professionals
with world-class skills at competitive rates, excellent and effective
communication abilities, broad experiences in a wide range of
sectors, and deeper understanding of multi-cultural environment.
